So like that the title said, I just found out that I have Covid from my PCR test. And honestly I’m not freaked out. Why you may ask? Well here is some backstory.

Backstory

So around 24 July 2021, everyone in my family including me got tested and turns out only I was the one who tested negative.

Naturally, you would think I self isolate. But I didn’t because everyone was busy recovering and I was still grieving my grandmother, not knowing what to do. I ended up staying in the storage room in my house.

There’s 5 people in my family. My mom, dad, sister and brother. So there’s 4 covid positive person vs me, the only one who’s negative.

Thus I got covid because there’s no way I could stand the covid virus from 4 people. Even with wearing a mask 24/7, it didn’t stop the virus from reaching me.

It could be that I accidentally drank from my mom’s mug that looks similar to mine or I caught it from my sister coughing when I forgot to wear my mask.

My point is I could list a thousand reason why I got the infection but in the end I already got infected. And now I am recovering.

So What Now?

That’s why today I decided to debunk 5 symptoms of Covid and see which one that I have and which one that I don’t have.

  1. Fever

I didn’t get any fever. Quite the opposite actually. When I checked my temperature, I got 36 celsius which mean it’s normal.

For me this was the most misleading symptoms because my sister got a fever. She had it for two days I think. And when I found out that I didn’t got any, I was relieved and believed that I didn’t got covid.

However in the end, it turned out wrong. So if you don’t have a fever but feel like you are having a hard time breathing, then I suggest you to have a test rather than being comfortable before it’s too late.

2. Dry Cough

I got the opposite. I have the wet cough, the ordinary one that most people had. Every time I cough, a phlegm would go out of my mouth.

Personally, I am someone who get the coughs easily. So of course I brush it off because I thought it was just an ordinary cough and I was having a cold.

Turns out I was wrong. Even if my cough is not the dry kind, it didn’t ensure me that I didn’t get covid. So if you feel that you are coughing, it could be that you have covid.

3. Difficulty Breathing

This is the most famous symptoms where people who have covid, they have a hard time breathing. For me personally, I don’t find breathing hard all the time.

I mean honestly I did have a hard time breathing but it was just for 10–15 minutes. Then after I took a deep breathe, I can breathe easily again. So I brush it off as anxiousness. After all when I feel anxious, I find it hard to breathe.

It doesn’t help that I meditate everyday. Why? Because when you meditate, you take deep breathes. I don’t find it hard to breathe when I meditate for 20 minutes so I took it a sign that I don’t have covid.

So what do you do if you have difficulty breathing? How can you differentiate it between a covid symptoms or a sign that you are feeling anxious?

My answer is that it depends on how often you have a hard time breathing. For me, I did have a hard time breathing for a week, where I felt chess pain. So it was also consistent.

So if after a while, you don’t find it hard to breathe and it didn’t happen for a week. Then you could relax and says it is just your anxiety. But to know for sure, take a PCR test.

4. Loss Of Taste And Smell

I didn’t have any loss of taste and smell. I still have it fully intact. How did I know this? Well when it was my birthday back in 2nd August, I got many cakes from my friends and family. And it all tasted sweet for me.

For smell, I was able to smell anything really. From my clothes to food. So I didn’t find it hard to smell except when my nose was runny which I will discuss further in the next part.

5. Nasal Congestion

So what does Nasal Congestion mean? It means that your nose is stuffy. The problem of this symptoms is when you have it could mean that you have the flu or cold.

I personally thought so. When my nose was full of snot, I thought I had a flu like before. But surprise surprise I was wrong. I was having covid.

Does this mean having a runny nose means that you have covid? Well if you don’t have any chest tightness, then you can assume you have a cold but take a test just in case.

That’s all for me guys, give a clap if you enjoy and stay safe everyone.
